Capturing the essence of childhood and the bond between children and their pets has always brought me joy. This particular painting, inspired by a photo from 'Free Photos for Artists,' reminds me of the precious moments I shared with my daughter when she was small. It’s a heartfelt tribute to the innocence and joy of those early years. The Photo was taken by Claire Mayer. The Painting was finished in 2024 and sold at the Shell Gala 2025. Purchased by Irbi Nelson.  I called this Painting "My Heart" This watercolor painting beautifully captures a tender moment between a young child and a horse. The delicate brushstrokes highlight the softness of the child's blond hair tied up with a small colorful clip, alongside her gentle gesture of reaching out to touch the horse's muzzle. the horse's eye and muzzle are rendered with subtle shading and warm tones, conveying a sense of calm and trust.  The Child's pink dress and beaded necklace add a touch of innocence and playfulness to the overall composition.  The white background draws the viewer's attention fully to interaction, emphasizing the quite intimacy of the this connection.  One of the strongest aspects is the way if communicated a profound sense of tenderness and mutual respect solely through pose and expression, without any need for a busy background.

With fluid brushstrokes and gentle shading, the artist emphasizes the tenderness and trust shared across species. The child’s small figure contrasts with the horses’ powerful presence, highlighting innocence, vulnerability, and the deep bond of companionship.

This is a black-and-white painting done in watercolor, framed in a rustic dark wooden frame. The artwork depicts a tender scene of a young child and two horses. The child, shown from the back, is wearing a shirt with a ruffled hem and has one arm raised, resting gently against the horse. The horses’ large heads dominate the composition, bending down toward the child with calm, affectionate expressions. The use of shading and brushstrokes gives a soft, flowing quality, emphasizing the intimacy and trust between the child and the animals. It conveys a warm, emotional bond between humans and horses — innocence, gentleness, and companionship.

Artists Note;"This photo reminded me of my daughter Taylor and her friends at the kids rodeo"  ~ Julie Werbelow

This radiant watercolor painting captures a sweet and nostalgic scene of two young girls riding horses side by side in what appears to be a fenced arena or open riding space.

The girls are shown from the back, both wearing light pink tops. The girl on the left has a ponytail and rides a darker horse, while the one on the right wears a cowboy hat and blue jeans, riding a lighter-colored horse with a black mane and tail. Their relaxed postures and side-by-side position evoke a sense of friendship, quiet camaraderie, and shared experience.

The background features a soft blue sky and a wooden fence, painted simply to keep the focus on the girls and their horses. The warm wooden frame complements the rustic theme, and the setting (likely in a cabin or barn space) reinforces the rural, horse-loving atmosphere.

This piece beautifully communicates themes of youth, freedom, and the bond between riders and their horses, all through a soft, inviting artistic style.

This heartwarming monochrome painting—rendered entirely in black, white, and shades of gray—captures a tender interaction between a young child and a horse. The child, seen from behind, is reaching out to offer the horse a small treat. The horse leans forward gently, eyes soft and attentive, accepting the offering with trust and curiosity.
